I want us to look at the word blessing in preparation for our worship and service to the Lord this year. So many times we use the word blessing as a verb to indicate some measure of favor that we have received from God or others. Social media is filled with believers writing about how God “blessed” them with a new car, or a new job, or a raise. There is nothing wrong with that, I too am thankful for the Lord’s blessings. However, I want you to look at the word blessing as a noun and not a verb in this series. In other words we are blessed by God no matter what the circumstances. It is a state of favor we are in as a result of His decree over our life. This means we can always answer the question of how we are doing with, “I’m blessed.” Circumstances do not change the fact we are blessed.

The concept of walking in a state of favor that has been pronounced over our redeemed lives allows us to confess we are blessed at all times. When the kids are getting all A’s in school we are “blessed” and when they are not doing so well, we are “blessed.” When you are advancing in your job you are blessed and when you are laid off you are blessed. When you feel like you are on top of the world, you are blessed and when you feel like the world is on top of you, you are blessed. Circumstances do not change the decree of the Father.

This concept of the blessing means that you will rise out of any situation and you cannot ultimately be defeated. Therefore, even in bad situations and seasons I still can confess that I am blessed because I will rise out of this and I cannot be defeated because, “I’m blessed.”

This is not simply a matter of semantics or some power phrase to be spoken in some trance like a mantra of the deceived, this is the truth. In the following messages I hope to illustrate this truth from the Bible that will allow you to choose a lifetime in the Father’s house of being blessed. David said, “I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever.” And “Lord, you have been our dwelling place in all generations.” May all of God’s children reject the lies of the enemy who tells us that God is keeping something good from us and thus tempts us to leave the safety of the Father’s house only to find out the truth in the pig’s pen that “God will not withhold any good thing from those who walk upright before Him.”
